founded in 1805

SONG FOR OBAN CONGREGATIONAL HOMECOMING 1st Nov. 2009

(Sung to the tune of The Hiking Song)

1. We are gathered here together, near the shores of Oban Bay

In our family church we're seated,

To share memories here today

From the 30's,and the 60's and on to 2009

We all can sit and reminisce, and remember for a time

Then sing and pray in the Good Lord's way

For the people of Argyll

That young and old around 'the bay'

Will greet you with a smile

2. Now some we remember fondly, as if it were yesterday

John Scott his Fuzzy Felts, as he gave us them to play

Whilst Miss MacCallum Dear Lizzie, taught us the Scriptures well

Young Ada Campbell smiling did many a story tell

Then sing and..........

3. Ministers have come and gone, all playing their part

Now the time they spent in Oban, will be remembered in our hearts

Rev. Cammock, Bateman, Stout and Carol Leech to name but a few

And now Ken Hunter is with us, Congregationalists loyal and true

Then sing..........

4. Sunday School and Young worshipers League, Donald Beaton 'stamping our card!'

Wee ones downstairs, big ones up! All the teachers working hard,

Miss Drummond and Miss Cameron, Miss Comrie and also Miss Burnett

Taught us from the Holy Bible and eagerly did we learn it!

Then sing..........

5. We once were known as the Union now were in the Federation

From all the parts of Scotland, we Praise the Lord in Adoration

From Oban Congregational, we send you this Greeting

"May the good Lord bless and keep you" until our next meeting

Then sing..........
